Candlelight tribute concert in which the Cap City String Quartet plays Queen and ABBA hits under candlelight at Short North Church.
Candlelight brings a Queen vs. ABBA tribute to Short North Church on Friday, November 20, 2026. The Cap City String Quartet takes the stage for a 60-minute set that puts two very different catalogs side by side: Queen's rock anthems and ABBA's pop classics, both played on strings. The room is lit by candles alone, and the concert is a tribute, not affiliated with the artists, their estates, or their official representatives.
The tentative program draws from both bands. From ABBA, they're planning Dancing Queen, SOS, and Money Money Money. Queen gets a larger share of the set, with Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want to Break Free, Don't Stop Me Now, We Will Rock You, and We Are the Champions. Hearing these songs stripped down to a string quartet changes the way they land, and the candlelight keeps the focus on the music.
Short North Church is a late 19th-century building in the Short North Arts District, a creatively renovated sanctuary that hosts a variety of gatherings and has become a regular spot for Candlelight concerts. It's an intimate space, and since it's an older building, there are no ramps or elevators—a chair lift is available to get to the main level. The show is for ages 8 and up, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult.
