Candlelight concert in which the Listeso String Quartet plays Hans Zimmer's film music, including 'Time' and 'Dune Suite', at the historic Short North Church.
Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer comes to Short North Church on Friday, November 13, with the Listeso String Quartet performing a program of Zimmer's film scores. It's a tribute concert, not affiliated with Zimmer himself, and it fits into the Candlelight series that stages live music in unusual locations under candlelight.
The tentative program pulls from some of his most recognizable work. You'll hear Time from Inception, This Land from The Lion King, Supermarine from Dunkirk, A Dark Knight from The Dark Knight, and Cornfield Chase from Interstellar. The set also includes a Dune suite and a Pirates of the Caribbean suite, so it covers a fair amount of ground across his career. The music is performed by the Listeso String Quartet, four strings taking on scores that were originally written for full orchestras and electronic layers.
Short North Church is a late 19th-century building in the Short North Arts District that doubles as a community space for spiritual services and gatherings, and it's become a regular spot for these concerts. The show runs 60 minutes, and doors open 45 minutes before it starts. There's no entry once it's begun, so you'll want to be in your seat before the first note. It's recommended for ages 8 and older, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. A chair lift can be used to access the main level, as there are no ramps or elevators, and seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone.
