Candlelight brings a string quartet tribute to 90s hip-hop to Short North Church on Friday, October 23, 2026. The Listeso String Quartet handles the music, and the whole room is lit by candles, so the audience and the musicians are both in the glow. It's a tribute experience, not associated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the artists or their representatives.
The setlist pulls from the biggest names of the era: Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Lauryn Hill, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, 2Pac, Outkast, Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, and Missy Elliott. Those are the artists whose music reached far beyond the nineties and changed the course of modern music, and the quartet reimagines that material for strings. The program is a tribute to the golden age of hip-hop, played by a live ensemble.

Short North Church, at 25 W. Fifth Ave. in Columbus' Short North Arts District, is a community space used for spiritual services and gatherings. The concert runs for 60 minutes, starting at 8:45 PM. Tickets are $41, and the show is for ages 8 and up.
