Glam metal show by BulletBoys with Charlie Bonnet III and the Folkin' Gasholes, plus Sun Dog Knights, Wings Over Mercury and Fastrich.
BulletBoys are playing The King of Clubs on Friday, November 13, with Charlie Bonnet III and the Folkin' Gasholes, Sun Dog Knights, Wings Over Mercury, and Fastrich. It's a full bill, so you'll be in for a long night of music.
If you're not familiar with them, BulletBoys formed in 1988, right at the peak of the Los Angeles glam metal movement. Even then, they leaned more toward hard rock and blues fusion than pure hair metal, and people compared them to Aerosmith and Van Halen. Their self-titled debut was produced by hard rock guru Ted Templeman and gave them hits like "Hard as a Rock," "Kissin' Kitty," "F#9," and "Smooth Up in Ya." Lead singer Marq Torien drew comparisons to David Lee Roth and Terence Trent D'Arby. The band opened for Bon Jovi and toured with Ozzy Osbourne, Cinderella, and Living Color, and eventually reached platinum status.
In 1991, they released Freakshow, which produced "Thrill That Kills," "Hang on St. Christopher," and "Talk to Your Daughter." After the founding members left, Torien kept the group going through Za-Za in 1993, Acid Monkey, Sofie, and the 2009 album 10c Billionaire. That's the history behind the name on the marquee—a band that started in the L.A. scene and has been running since the late eighties.
