Hands-on workshop with floral artist Sheena Hanscel to make two personalised body scrubs and two shower steamers with botanical oils.
Botanical Gift Making is coming to Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens on Sunday, December 20, from 1 PM to 3 PM. It's a hands-on workshop for making your own natural bath and body products, and since it's just a few days before Christmas, it works as a way to knock out some of your holiday shopping while you're there.
During the session, you'll make two personalized body scrubs and two shower steamers, both using botanical oils. You also get to take home reusable silicone molds, so you can keep making them on your own after the class is over. The whole thing is built around the old tradition of gift-making—making things by hand to give away—so you leave with four finished gifts and the gear to make more.
The class is led by Sheena Hanscel, a Columbus-based floral artist, herbalism student, and community educator. She comes from a different background than you might expect: she's a former therapist with a bachelor's in psychology and a master's in social work from The Ohio State University, and she's a certified wellness coach. She also created The Pollen Patch, a native pollinator and medicinal garden designed by Ohio Native Concepts, and her work draws on Indigenous herbal traditions.
