Concert by the celebrated brass quintet Boston Brass, with Piazzolla's 'Verano Porteño' and Pryor's 'Blue Bells of Scotland', presented by Chamber Music Columbus.
Boston Brass play the Southern Theatre on Saturday, January 23, 2027, at 4 PM. The concert is presented by Chamber Music Columbus, which is celebrating its 75th season of bringing chamber music artists and ensembles from around the world to central Ohio.
On the program are Astor Piazzolla's Verano Porteño and Arthur Pryor's Blue Bells of Scotland. The two pieces come from very different worlds—Piazzolla's Argentine tango and Pryor's brass band tradition—and they're both handled by the same group of instruments.
Boston Brass is one of the world's most celebrated brass ensembles, known for redefining the brass quintet experience through virtuosity and stylistic versatility. They've been playing for nearly four decades, performing around the globe and building an extensive discography that bridges classical masterworks, jazz, and contemporary repertoire. That range explains why a single set can move from a tango to a brass band standard without feeling disjointed.
