Full-length ballet by BalletMet that tells the story of Marilyn Monroe through movement, choreographed by Dani Rowe.
BalletMet is bringing Marilyn to the Davidson Theatre at the Riffe Center from October 16 to 24, a full-length ballet that tells Marilyn Monroe's story through movement rather than singing or acting. It's a new work that weaves together the glitz and glamour of her stardom with the vulnerability and strength of the woman behind the icon, and it's a collaboration between BalletMet, Tulsa Ballet, and Oregon Ballet Theatre. The choreography is by Dani Rowe, with an original score by Shannon Rugani; the Marilyn Monroe trademark and rights of publicity are used with permission of The Estate of Marilyn Monroe LLC.
Since 1978, BalletMet has brought dance to theatres, studios, and classrooms across Central Ohio and beyond from its home in downtown Columbus, and Marilyn is part of the company's 49th season. The production runs from October 16 to 24 at the Davidson Theatre, and tickets are pay-what-you-want, so you can decide what you're willing to pay for your seat.
