A Taste of Ireland brings its acclaimed Irish music and dance show to the Palace Theatre, featuring former World Irish dance champions and dancers from Lord of the Dance and Riverdance.
A Taste of Ireland comes to the Palace Theatre on Saturday, October 17, at 7:30 PM. It's the company's flagship production, arriving in Columbus straight from Off-Broadway and London's West End after a world tour that took it through Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Canada. This is a strictly limited US run, so it's one of the few times the show will be on this side of the Atlantic.
The cast is built around international dance champions, with Callum O'Neill, Barry Teague, and Emily Grace headlining. They're joined by dancers from Lord of the Dance, Riverdance, and the recent West End cast of Γireann. The whole group is made up of former World Irish dance champions, so the technical side of the dancing is the real draw here.
As for what actually happens on stage, the show blends melodic folk mash-ups, live acapella tap battles, and storytelling. They reimagine classics like "Danny Boy," "Tell Me Ma," and "Wild Rover," and the whole thing traces Ireland's history through traditional Irish dance presented in a modern style, with a contemporary musical score and lighting effects. It's a production that's been touring for a decade and has built a social following of over 400,000 along the way.
