Musical comedy in which Pastor Johnson investigates a $5,000 missing from the church offering plate, uncovering secrets and accusations.
Tre Floyd's Church Folk comes to the Booth Playhouse on Saturday, March 20, 2027, at 3 PM. It's a comedy mystery musical presented by Tre Floyd Productions, and it's built around a very specific kind of chaos: $5,000 goes missing from the offering plate at New Rock Baptist Tabernacle Church, and Pastor Johnson decides to investigate.
That investigation is where the show really takes off. What starts as a search for the missing money quickly turns into a tangle of secrets, accusations, and plenty of church foolishness. It's a comedy that plays with the familiar dynamics of a church community—the personalities, the gossip, and the way things can spiral when everyone is a suspect—and it does it all within a musical format. If you've ever spent time around a church congregation, you'll probably recognize some of the types that pop up as the mystery unfolds.
On the music side, the production features gospel recording artist Earnest Pugh, so you'll have a professional voice leading the songs. The whole thing is presented by Tre Floyd Productions, and it runs at the Booth Playhouse, which is the Blumenthal Arts Center's Founders Hall venue over on North Tryon Street.
