Award-winning comedy icons Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme bring their holiday variety show to Charlotte, blending comedy, live music, theatrical spectacle and drag.
Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme bring The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show to the Booth Playhouse at Blumenthal Arts Center from November 6 to 8. It's a three-night run in Charlotte, and we're the first stop on a 30-city tour that doesn't wrap until December 30 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
If you've seen them before, you know the drill: they've reinvented this show every year since it launched in 2018. Each edition gets an entirely original story, and the range has been pretty wild over the years—sentient Christmas treats, Dickensian ghosts, the Nutcracker's Land of Sweets, rogue AI, body swaps, and elf attacks. They blend comedy, live music, theatrical spectacle, and drag into whatever new plot they've cooked up for this one. Entertainment Weekly called them the 'reigning queens of Christmas,' and The New York Times described it as 'a queer, clever, and heartfelt Christmas show that keeps getting bigger.'
Beyond the stage, the two have expanded the project into other things. They released their first holiday book, Jinkx & DeLa: How the Queens Made Christmas, along with a companion collection of twelve pop-out ornaments. They describe the show as both a moment of respite and a celebration of community.
