Retro-soul outfit The California Honeydrops perform live at Neighborhood Theatre as part of their Winter Tour 2027.
The California Honeydrops are playing the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte on Friday, January 22, 2027, as part of their Winter Tour 2027. It's a single-bill night, so they're the only act on the marquee.
If you're not familiar, they're a retro-soul outfit that got its start in the subway systems of Oakland, led by frontman Lech Wierzynski and percussionist Benjamin Malament. The thing to know about them is their approach to the stage: they're known for an unwavering commitment to improvisation, to the point of abandoning set lists so that no two shows are ever the same. If you've seen them before, you're not going to hear the same night twice.
That live focus has taken them to festivals like Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia, Outside Lands, Monterey Jazz, and Lightning In A Bottle, and they've shared stages with B.B. King, Dr. John, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, and Allen Toussaint. Their music has been streamed more than 200 million times and placed in shows and films like Dead To Me, Alaska Daily, and Black-ish, and their album Redwood Highway is out.
