The international percussion show STOMP, which uses everyday objects to create rhythms, returns to the Knight Theater.
STOMP is back at the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts on Tuesday, Nov 17 and Wednesday, Nov 18, with both shows starting at 7:30 PM. It's a two-night run presented by Blumenthal Arts, so you've got a choice of dates if one doesn't work.
If you've never seen it, the whole thing is built on a simple, weird premise: the troupe doesn't use conventional percussion instruments. Instead, they turn everyday objects into rhythms that fill the stage. Matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, and hubcaps all end up as part of the show. It's an international percussion act that's picked up armfuls of awards and rave reviews along the way, and it's appeared on plenty of national television shows. The Boston Globe put it pretty plainly: "If you haven't seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it, take someone and share the pleasure!"
