Samara Joy

Samara Joy is playing the Knight Theater on Tuesday, February 2, 2027. It's a single-bill night, so she's the only name on the marquee. The show starts at 7 PM.

If you're not already familiar, Joy is a jazz vocalist who's quickly become one of the biggest names in the genre. She's known for a voice that feels both timeless and completely current, and she's spent the last few years touring and recording with a focus on the Great American Songbook. Her set usually centers on those standards—the kinds of songs that have been around for decades—and she treats them with a mix of reverence and her own particular phrasing. It's the kind of jazz that works whether you've spent your life listening to the classics or you're just getting into them.

For a night like this, the Knight Theater is a natural fit. It's part of the Blumenthal Arts complex, located at 430 South Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte. It's a proper theater, so you'll have a seat and a clear view of the stage, which is exactly what you want for a vocal performance where the focus is on the singer and the band. The 7 PM start gives you plenty of time to get downtown and settled before the first note.

Since she's the sole feature of the evening, the whole night is built around her voice. If you've been following her work, this is a chance to hear those recordings live; if you're coming in fresh, it's a good place to start. The show is on Tuesday, February 2, 2027, at 7 PM at the Knight Theater, 430 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.
