Community tree planting and care day at Providence High School, open to all ages.
TreesCharlotte is hosting a community tree planting and care day at Providence High School on Saturday, January 23, 2027. It's a morning spent getting your hands dirty for a good cause, and it's open to all ages, so you can bring the kids along if you're looking for something to do with them that isn't just another screen.
The day is built around two things: planting new trees and taking care of the ones already there. Planting is the visible part—digging the holes and getting new trees into the ground—but the care side is just as important. That means things like mulching and pruning, the kind of maintenance that keeps a young tree healthy and growing instead of just surviving. It's a good way to see how a school campus changes when you actually put in the work to add more canopy.
TreesCharlotte is the organization behind it, and they're the ones who coordinate tree planting across Charlotte. This particular day is set up as a community effort, which is a nice way to put it: you're working alongside neighbors and students to leave the school grounds a bit greener than you found them. Since it's open to all ages, it works as a family activity as much as a solo one.
