Second edition of the Dominican celebration featuring music, dance, crafts and traditional gastronomy.
Parada Dominicana returns to Camp North End on Sunday, October 11, for its second annual Dominican celebration. It's the second time the event has come to the city, and the lineup follows the same broad tradition as the first: music, dance, crafts, and traditional food, all centered on Dominican culture.
The day is built around a few different things happening at once. There's live music and dancing to keep the energy up, and a selection of traditional Dominican food to eat while you're there. You'll also find local crafts on display, so if you're into handmade work, there's plenty to look at. It's the kind of afternoon where you can drift between the music, the food, and the stalls without having to stick to a set schedule.
Behind the event is Fiestas Patrias y Tradiciones de Charlotte, an organization that works to preserve and celebrate the holidays and cultures of Latin American countries—many of which are the home countries of people living right here in Charlotte. Throughout the year, they stage independence day celebrations for different nations, and over their history they've hosted hundreds of cultural events. Every one of them is free and open to everyone, which is how this one works too.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Charlotte and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
