Kindred the Family Soul is Aja Graydon and Fatin Dantzler, a husband-and-wife duo of artists, songwriters and parents whose music celebrates love, family and resilience. Both started in the industry as teenagers: Fatin was producing for Bell Biv DeVoe at 17, and Aja signed her first record deal at 14 with Delicious Vinyl. They met in 1997 through The Roots' production camp, became partners and married the following year. Their reputation grew at Philadelphia's Black Lily showcase alongside Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild and Floetry.
Their 2021 album Auntie & Unc marked two decades of partnership, and their latest project, The Grand Life, came out on October 3, 2025. It includes a remake of Frankie Beverly & Maze's "I Need You."
