A hands-on workshop to learn how to make traditional Korean Kimbap with Mrs. Jeomsim Lee, part of the Korea in the Queen City programme.
K-KimBap Making: An Immersive Tasting Experience comes to Free Range Brewing on Saturday, October 17, from 11 AM to 1 PM, with a second session on Wednesday, October 21, from 6 to 8 PM. It's a hands-on workshop where you'll learn to make traditional Korean kimbap from the ground up, led by Mrs. Jeomsim Lee.
During the class, you'll start with the history of kimbap before getting into the actual work: rolling the rolls using freshly prepared ingredients. You'll walk through the process step-by-step, and by the end, everyone takes home the four rolls they made. It's a practical session, so you leave with something you can actually eat.
The workshop is part of Korea in the Queen City, a cultural program by Hands On Well that shares Korean heritage with the Charlotte area through art, music, and food. Kimbap is one of the most recognizable parts of that culinary tradition—the seaweed-wrapped rice rolls filled with a variety of seasoned vegetables and proteins—and this is a chance to see how it's put together rather than just ordering it from a menu.
