Annual Gala Concert with Joshua Bell performing Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1, led by conductor Kwamé Ryan, with the Charlotte Symphony.
Joshua Bell is coming to Knight Theater on Saturday, November 7, for the Charlotte Symphony's Annual Gala. He'll be performing Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1, with the symphony led by Music Director Kwamé Ryan. The program opens with Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 4, so you'll get two Romantic staples in one night.
Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 is a cornerstone of the violin repertoire, known for its soaring melodies, rich orchestral writing and demanding virtuosity. The symphony describes Bell as one of today's greatest violinists, and he's the one taking the lead on this one. Pairing it with Schumann's gripping Fourth Symphony keeps the whole evening in that same Romantic vein.
The concert is the symphony's Annual Gala, a formal occasion that begins with an elegant dinner honoring David Rubenstein for his leadership in finance, philanthropy for the performing arts and historic preservation. It's part of the symphony's 2026-27 Classical Series, a season that ranges from classical masterworks and sacred music to film scores, animation and popular music.
