Concert by multi-instrumentalist Hunter Root with his full band at The Evening Muse.
Hunter Root brings his full band to The Evening Muse on Wednesday, October 14. Root is a Pennsylvania-based multi-instrumentalist whose work pulls from acoustic rock, folk, and grunge, and this is a full-band show rather than a solo set. He writes, records, mixes, and produces all his albums himself, and he describes his songwriting as having shifted over time from being lyric-centric to putting the music first.
Much of the material he's been playing lately comes from his 2023 album Arkansas, which he wrote as a tribute following the death of his older brother in 2020. His own youth in Arkansas left a deep mark on his artistry, and that connection runs through the record. Two of his songs, "Town Rat Heathen" and "Quicksand Sinking," found viral success on TikTok and Instagram, which pushed his music to millions of Spotify plays.
