East Zip Codes TreeAdoption 2026

TreesCharlotte is hosting a TreeAdoption day for residents of East Charlotte on Saturday, December 12, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at 701 Tuckaseegee Road. It's a morning where you can pick out a tree for your yard and take it home to plant. TreesCharlotte is a nonprofit that relies on donations to put on events like this, so the trees they give away are free for the residents who qualify.

There's a good mix of species to choose from, so you can pick what actually works for your spot. They'll have small flowering trees, canopy-building types that grow tall and wide, and evergreen screening if you're looking for a bit of privacy. You're limited to two trees per registration, and everyone who comes through has to go through a planting demonstration—basically a quick walk-through on how to get your tree in the ground the right way so it actually takes.

Before you head over, there are a few things to keep in mind. This one is specifically for Mecklenburg County residents living in zip codes 28205, 28206, 28212, 28213, 28215, and 28227. You also can't resell the trees or use them for profit; doing that will get you banned from future TreesCharlotte events.

Registration is required, and that's the part you'll want to track. It opens on Friday, December 4, at 10:00 AM and closes when the trees sell out or at 11:59 PM on Thursday, December 10. Since the trees are free and in limited supply, they tend to go fast, so it's worth getting your name in early. The adoption itself runs from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM on December 12 at 701 Tuckaseegee Road.
