A free drop-in senior dance class from Charlotte Ballet focusing on flexibility, balance and mobility for older adults.
Charlotte Ballet is holding a free drop-in dance class for older adults at Sugaw Creek Recreation Center, and it's one of those things you can just show up for without any prep. The class runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 12 PM, so if you're free on a weekday morning, it's an easy one to fit in.
What they're doing here is a bit broader than a standard ballet class. They pull from ballet, jazz, modern, and improvisation, and the whole session is built around flexibility, breath, balance, mobility, and fluidity. It's less about nailing a specific routine and more about moving your body in a way that feels good. One of the best parts is that you can take the class seated, standing, or a mix of both, so you can just do what works for you that day.
It's a drop-in, which means no advance registration is required and there's no commitment to a set number of classes—you can go once, go every week, or just pop in whenever you feel like it. The class is free, sponsored by Culture Blocks, a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.
