Country and indie folk singer-songwriter Brendan Walter performs live at the Neighborhood Theatre.
Brendan Walter plays the Neighborhood Theatre on Friday, October 16, starting at 7 PM. He's a Texas-born singer and songwriter who recently signed with RECORDS/Sony Music Nashville, and this is one of the stops on his current run of dates.
Walter's background explains a lot of where his sound comes from. He started playing guitar with his father in the fifth grade and spent years playing in church, with a childhood soundtrack that pulled from Mumford & Sons, Van Halen, and Tyler Childers. That's a wide spread to grow up on—folk-revival, hard rock, and red dirt country all in the same house—and you can hear those threads running through his work. He eventually blew off a finance internship, moved to Austin, and cut his teeth on the city's live music circuit before heading to Nashville, bringing a blend of rock, indie folk, and grunge with him.
He's been touring with Wyatt Flores and Evan Honer, and he's put out the album Disappearing Days and the song "If A Song Could Change Your Mind" with Low Gap. Lately, he's been on the road with Colby Acuff and Tyler Nance, and he's working with producer Taylor Kimball on new material, including a track with artist and producer Anderson East. The set will draw from that mix of country, pop country, and red dirt, with the rock and indie folk elements that come from his Austin and Nashville years.
