A theatrical adaptation of the Emmy-winning children's series Bluey, featuring puppets and new music, brought to real life.
Bluey's Big Play comes to the Belk Theater at Blumenthal Arts Center on May 15 and 16, 2027, for two days of performances. It's a theatrical adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning children's series Bluey, and it marks the show's first time on a live stage. The story is original, written by the show's creator Joe Brumm, with new music by composer Joff Bush. BBC Studios and Andrew Kay are presenting it in association with Windmill Theatre Co., and Blumenthal Arts is bringing it to Charlotte.
On stage, the show brings the characters to life with puppets, so it's a live production rather than a screening. The Belk Theater, part of the Performing Arts Center, was designed by architect Cesar Pelli and opened in 1992. It's set up in a contemporary European horseshoe arrangement, and the audience chamber features about 2,400 fiber-optic 'points of light' across the ceiling. The theater is located at 150 N. College St. / 290 E. 5th St. in Uptown Charlotte.
