Musical memoir about Neil Diamond, created in collaboration with him, bringing his story to the stage.
A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical plays at the Belk Theater at Blumenthal Arts Center from Friday, November 27, through Sunday, November 29. It's a musical memoir of Neil Diamond's life, and he worked on it himself, so the story comes straight from the source.
The show follows Diamond from his start as a kid in Brooklyn to his time as an American rock icon. It's built around the songs that defined his career, and you'll recognize plenty of them: "America," "Forever in Blue Jeans," and "Sweet Caroline" are all in there. Over his career, he's sold 120 million albums and earned induction into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. The production puts his story on stage in a way that's meant to be uplifting, and it's presented by Blumenthal Arts.
If you've seen Jersey Boys or Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, you've got a good sense of what this isβa musical memoir that tells a songwriter's life story through the songs they wrote. It's the same kind of thing here, with Diamond's own songs providing the soundtrack to his rise from Brooklyn to sold-out concerts around the world.
