A romantic comedy by Rebecca Jade Hammond, directed by Kate Wasserberg, presented as a work in progress with a post-show Q&A.
The Dark I Swim is at the Sherman Theatre on 13 and 14 October, with both nights starting at 8pm in the Studio. It's a romantic comedy written by Rebecca Jade Hammond and directed by Kate Wasserberg, and it's billed as a work in progress, which is a good thing to keep in mind before you head in.
The story follows Siby, who's spent twenty years guarding the same Cardiff pool, and Cole, who walks in young, damaged and keeping secrets. It's described as a filthy, funny and achingly tender romantic comedy about two people drowning in their own heads, and what happens when someone finally notices you. The pool setting gives it a particular kind of Cardiff grounding, and the two characters are at very different stages of their lives when they meet.
On stage, it's Mali Ann Rees and Santino Smith in the roles. The production is part of the Shed Originals script development programme in partnership with Theatr Clwyd, and it's staged as a Made at Sherman family show, co-produced with Chippy Lane Productions Ltd. It's not its first outing, either: the show has also been performed at Shedinburgh during the Edinburgh Festival and at The Young Vic in London, so these Cardiff dates are part of a wider run of development.

Tickets start from £14.00, and since it's a work in progress, there's a post-show Q&A after each performance, which is a chance to hear more about how the play is coming together. It runs on 13 and 14 October at 8pm in the Studio at the Sherman Theatre in Cathays.
