US art-punk band Perennial live at Tiny Rebel Cardiff, with support from The Meritones and A Lack of North.
Perennial play Tiny Rebel Cardiff on Monday 12 October, their first ever show in Wales. They're an art-punk three-piece from Hartford, Connecticut, and the set is built around a stripped-back line-up of guitar, electric organ and drums. It's part of their UK tour, presented by Snowfall Presents.
They describe their sound as a kinetic collage of mod pop, 90s post-hardcore, post-bop jazz and 60s soul, and they're best known for a ferocious, quick live show. That energy has caught some attention: they won Stereogum's Best New Artist in 2024, and PopMatters named them Best New Artist that same year. Freak Scene at The Boston Globe described their energy as unflagging and the volume immersive.
Support comes from garage-psych punksters The Meritones and eclectic post-rockers A Lack of North, so the night pulls from a few different corners of the underground. The whole thing is 18+, and the venue is only accessible by staircase.
