A soul and disco concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Odyssey's debut single 'Native New Yorker', fronted by Samantha Scott and Alicia Saddler with Steven Collazo as musical director.
Odyssey play the New Theatre on Tuesday 21 September 2027, a Cardiff stop on their 50 Year Anniversary Tour. The tour marks the half-century since Native New Yorker, the debut single by the soul and disco act that became an international hit in late 1977 and one of the most successful records of its era.
Odyssey went on to top the charts in the early 1980s with Use It Up and Wear It Out and scored several other Top Ten hits, including If You're Looking for a Way Out, Inside Out and the Lamont Dozier classic Going Back to My Roots. The anniversary tour is a tribute to that run, and the Cardiff date brings the name back to the stage with a full band.
On this tour, Odyssey is fronted by vocal stylists Samantha Scott and Alicia Saddler, with musical director Steven Collazo leading a band of musicians. There's a family connection behind the scenes: Collazo is the eldest son of Lillian, a former member of the group, and he eventually became Odyssey's musical director. He now carries the Odyssey name forward as a brand, and this tour is the latest chapter in that.
