A vintage cinema evening screening the 1947 classic Miracle on 34th Street, with pre-show entertainment by Kitsch & Sync Collective's usherettes and a pop-up bar.
Miracle on 34th Street is coming to the National Museum Cardiff on Sunday 13 December, as part of the Movies at the Museum series. It's the 1947 classic, captioned in English, and it's playing twice that day — a matinee at 2pm and an evening screening at 7pm. Each one runs about two hours with a 15-minute interval.
It's not just a film in a room, though. The whole thing is built around the museum's Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre, which they've dressed up as a vintage cinema. When you arrive, you're greeted by usherettes from Kitsch & Sync Collective, who put on a pre-show performance and then escort everyone down the aisles to their seats. The room is filled with music and imagery from the museum's historic heyday, and the screening pairs the main feature with a short. There's also a pop-up bar and shop serving popcorn, confectionery and drinks throughout, so you can keep the cinema snacks going through the interval.

Movies at the Museum is Amgueddfa Cymru's series celebrating the golden age of cinema, and it's running thrillers and musicals across the autumn and winter. Miracle on 34th Street is the Christmas entry, but The Birds and Psycho (both 15) and Singin' in the Rain (U) are also on the bill, so there's a fair bit to choose from if you're in the mood for more. Museum admission is free, and tickets for this one are £12 standard and £10 concession, with members getting £2 off. There are also a limited number of HYNT tickets available.
