A visceral performance of industrial, speedcore, noise, punk, metal and electronic music by Junkie Kut at the Fuel Rock Club.
Junkie Kut play Fuel Rock Club on Friday 16 October, as part of the Sŵn Festival. It's a single-name bill, with Junkie Kut taking the full set.
If you're not familiar with them, it's a hard act to pin down. They fuse speedcore, terror and noise destruction with hardcore punk rock, metal, industrial, rave and electronica. They describe the result as a visceral expression of rage in an age of discontent, and the set sits at the intersection of industrial, cyberpunk, electronicore, speedcore and punk. It's a lot to hold in one night: the high-bpm rush of speedcore and terror, the abrasive textures of noise and industrial, and the raw energy of punk and metal, all pulled together with rave and electronica.
That mix is exactly what they're known for. The speedcore and terror provide the pace, the noise and industrial bring the grit, and the punk and metal give it a heavy, distorted edge. The rave and electronica elements tie it all together, and the whole thing is framed as a response to the current moment. It's a loud, high-energy set that doesn't sit still, moving between those different sounds rather than picking one and sticking with it.
