The feel-good musical Hairspray returns to the Donald Gordon Theatre, with Neil Hurst reprising the role of Edna Turnblad.
Hairspray returns to the Donald Gordon Theatre at the Wales Millennium Centre from 3 to 7 August 2027. It's a short run, with evening performances Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm and matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm. The show runs about two hours and 35 minutes, including one interval.
Neil Hurst is back in the role of Edna Turnblad, the part he's played before. He's also known for The Full Monty, and the rest of the cast is still to be announced. The story follows big-hearted Tracy Turnblad and the friends she makes along the way — the spirited Seaweed and his sister Little Inez, heartthrob Link Larkin and the resolute Motormouth Maybelle — as they strive to change the world. It's built around some of musical theatre's biggest hits, including 'Welcome to the 60s', 'You Can't Stop the Beat' and 'Good Morning Baltimore'.
