A beloved BBC comedy brought to the big screen, the film follows teenager Jack and his friends who break into the empty and allegedly haunted Button House and dare each other to talk to the spirits via a Ouija board.
Ghosts: The Possession of Button House comes to Chapter on Friday 23 October, the BBC comedy brought to the big screen. It's directed by Simon Hynd, a UK production from 2026, and runs for 1 hour and 37 minutes. It's rated PG, so it's one you can take the whole family along to.
The story starts with Jack, a teenager who breaks into the empty and allegedly haunted Button House with his friends. They dare each other to talk to the spirits using a Ouija board, and they succeed a bit too well: the ghost of Julian Fawcett MP possesses Jack to win a long-awaited freedom from his fellow spirits — Kitty, Pat, Robin, Humphrey, Thomas, The Captain and Lady Fanny. Julian then sets off to find Alison and Mike and ask for her return to the grand mansion, all while unaware that he's put Jack in mortal danger. It's billed as a comedy adventure for all the family, and with that whole gang of ghosts involved, it's got the full ensemble back together.

The screening is part of Chapter's 'Carry on Screaming' Friday film series, which offers free entry for babies — though they've added the cheeky caveat 'no baby, no entry', so make sure you've got your little one with you if you're claiming that one. It starts at 1.45pm, so it's a matinee rather than an evening trip, which fits the family-friendly side of things. If you've followed the show, seeing the Button House gang on the big screen is a nice way to spend a Friday afternoon.
