Stand-up comedy show by Daniel Foxx about navigating dating in his thirties, his skincare routine and his Le Creuset addiction.
Daniel Foxx brings his new show, How Lovely, to the Sherman Theatre on Thursday 5 November, with the curtain going up at 7.30pm in the Main House. If you've come across his name before, it's probably from his viral comedy videos, which have reached millions of women and gay people online. He's also known for his debut show Villain, which toured internationally with sell-out runs at New York's SoHo Playhouse and London's Clapham Grand. Off-stage, he co-hosts the podcast Welcome To Hell with fellow comic Dane Buckley — which hit the Apple and Spotify Top 10 comedy charts — and wrote the book Bedtime Stories for Privileged Children. Rolling Stone described him as "utterly hilarious and effortlessly charismatic."
How Lovely is a look at the messy side of getting older. Foxx reflects on handling his Big Breakup with the grace of Julia Roberts — he didn't — and navigates dating in his thirties, his Le Creuset addiction, and his twelve-step skincare routine, all while trying very hard to emanate love and light. It's the sort of thing that works best when you've been there yourself: the gap between how you want to come across and how you actually behave when things fall apart.
