Cardiff City v Watford

Cardiff City take on Watford at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 13 October, kick-off at 7:45pm. It's a Championship clash that puts two teams in very similar positions against each other: the Bluebirds are 21st and the Hornets 20th, separated by just one point and one place. Cardiff have had a tough start back in the second tier and sit just above the relegation zone on goal difference, so this is one of those games that feels like it could go either way.

Watford arrive on the back of a 4-0 defeat to Burnley, which was the Clarets' first win of the season. That result puts some pressure on their manager, Alessio Dionisi, and given the club's reputation for being quick to change bosses, it's a match he'll be keen to get right. Cardiff are led by Brian Barry-Murphy, and they'll be without Krystian Bielik, who's suspended for one match after an altercation with a Portsmouth supporter at Fratton Park.

In their head-to-head, Cardiff have had the better run lately, winning three of the last five meetings and scoring eight goals to Watford's four. The most recent encounter was a 1-1 draw back in January 2025, so there's a bit of history to draw on here. With both teams sitting so close to each other in the table, it's a game where a result could make a real difference for either side.

If you can't make it down to Leckwith Road, the match is live on Sky Sports+ and on Sky Go and NOW, though no national radio coverage has been confirmed. Kick-off is 7:45pm at the Cardiff City Stadium, CF11 8AZ.
