Bellowhead celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album 'Burlesque' with their big-band folk sound, featuring special guest Seckou Keita.
Bellowhead are playing the New Theatre on Sunday 22 November, as part of their Burlesque 20th Anniversary Tour. It's an 11-piece folk outfit, and the night is built around the record that started it all for them: Burlesque, their full-length debut, which came out twenty years ago. The set will draw from that album, which blends traditional English folk with a big-band sound and produced songs like 'London Town', 'Frog's Legs', 'Dragon's Teeth' and 'Rigs of The Time'.
If you've missed them before, it helps to know where they fit. After Burlesque they recorded four more studio albums, sold more than a quarter of a million copies, won two silver discs and took eight BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards before calling it a day in 2016. A record-breaking online stream during the pandemic prompted a reunion, and they've been back on stage since then, with a sold-out tour in 2022 and another in 2024 as they celebrated their own 20th anniversary. This Cardiff date is part of the Burlesque 20th Anniversary Tour, so the focus is on that first record.

They won't be on their own, either. The night includes special guest Seckou Keita, so you'll get two acts for the price of one. The main set starts at 7:00pm at the New Theatre in Cardiff city centre.
