Barrylesque

Barrylesque runs at the Weston Studio in the Wales Millennium Centre from 16 December 2026 to 2 January 2027. It's a drag cabaret that takes the world of Gavin & Stacey and gives it the full Barry Island treatment, reimagining the show's characters as larger-than-life drag and burlesque performers. The night mixes live vocals, lip sync, comedy and chaos, with the usual catchphrases and a singalong finale.

The cast is a proper drag line-up: Joe Crabbe and Jolene Dover as Nessa; Ren Simons and Justin Drag as Smithy; Steph Gawne and Foo Foo Labelle as Gwen and Doris; Matt Hazzard as Mick and Dave; Chloe Gale and Cadbury Parfait as Pam and Dawn; and Zaki Musa as Bryn and Pete. It's directed by Luke Hereford, produced by Aled Lloyd Rees, with Mel Owen on co-creative and comedy script. The show is built on musical mashups, multimedia projections and audience interaction, and it's billed as a Christmas show, with audio-described and BSL performances available.

It comes from the team behind Cabaret at the Wales Millennium Centre, bringing together Welsh and Wales-based artists. Producer Aled Lloyd Rees said it came from a desire to take something audiences already know and love and throw it into a completely different world, while giving Welsh artists the space to experiment. It's an original parody and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the BBC, Baby Cow Productions, James Corden, Ruth Jones or any of the original creators of Gavin & Stacey.

There are two performances a day: a 3:30pm matinee with doors at 3pm, and an 8:30pm evening show with doors at 8pm. It runs from 16 December through to 2 January, so it's on across the Christmas break.
