Anton Du Beke shares personal stories from his life on stage, celebrating the release of his debut memoir Steps in Time.
Anton Du Beke is coming to the New Theatre on Monday 26 October, with his show Steps in Time. It's a one-man evening on stage, and it's tied to the release of his debut memoir, Steps in Time, which shares the same title.
Most of us know him from Strictly Come Dancing, where he's been a face of the show since the very first series back in 2004, first as a dancer and instructor and later as a judge. He's built a bit of a reputation as a natural entertainer, known for his wit and a sense of humour that's hard to miss. Beyond the ballroom, he's a prime-time presenter, a published author on dancing, and has a singing voice that carries him through jazz standards and songs from classic musicals.
Steps in Time takes him to the stage to tell the stories behind the public image. He talks about growing up in the 1970s, working odd jobs through the 80s and 90s while chasing his dreams, and the glittering world of ballroom that eventually made him a household name. There are behind-the-scenes moments from two decades on Strictly and untold tales from the dance floor, so it's less about the dancing itself and more about the life that led up to it.
