Free exhibition by Year 12 students from across the UK exploring the connections in nature, shown across the Museum of Zoology.
Living Links Student Voices opened at the Museum of Zoology on Tuesday 20 October, and it's a bit of a spread: the work is shown across the museum's galleries and also over at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, so you've got two sites to visit if you want the full thing.
The exhibition comes from a group of Year 12 students from across the UK, who spent a week's residential at Clare College exploring connections in nature. That's the core of it — how things in the natural world link up — and the work they produced during that week is what's on display now. It's student work, not a professional gallery show, which is part of the appeal: seeing how a group of teenagers from different parts of the country spent a week thinking about the same theme and came up with their own takes on it.
Because the work is scattered across the museum's galleries, it sits alongside the permanent collections. The Museum of Zoology is one of the city's big ones, with galleries that map out the diversity of animal life — marsupials, monkeys, mammoths, and manatees, with stories of extinction, survival, evolution, and exploration running through them. There's a fin whale hanging above the shop in the Whale Hall, and the Whale Café is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm if you fancy a break between the galleries. The Botanic Garden is the other half of the exhibition, so you can make a day of it and wander between the two.

Admission is free, and since the work is split between the museum and the garden, you can take your time and see it at your own pace. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, with the café running the same hours, 10am to 3pm.
