Crosstown Concerts gig featuring Young Knives on their 20th Anniversary Tour with support from Hot Face at Strange Brew.
Young Knives play Strange Brew on Saturday 5 December, as part of their Voices of Animals and Animals 20th Anniversary Tour. The Oxford band have been around since the early 2000s, and this tour marks two decades since that record came out. They're now a duo of brothers, Henry and Thomas Dartnall, who go by the name 'The House of Lords'.
Their sound is hard to pin to one spot. They describe it as quirky, spazzy, poppy music built around catchy guitars and drums, and the references they pull from are all over the place: post-punk, 60s pop, hip-hop, and noise rock. They've been Mercury Prize nominees, and they're best known for live shows that get loud and explosive. Most recently they put out Landfill, a critically acclaimed album that arrived in 2025.
Opening for them are Hot Face, a garage-punk three-piece from South London. The band grew out of a series of bedroom demos by guitarist and vocalist James Bates, who was later joined by bassist George Cannell and drummer and vocalist Sam Catchpole. They released their debut single, 'dura dura', through Speedy Wunderground in 2023.
