Joe Armon-Jones and Maxwell Owen celebrate ten years of their album 'Idiom', blending jazz, soul, dubstep and grime in a live performance.
Joe Armon-Jones & Maxwell Owen are back at Strange Brew on Friday 18 December, returning to Bristol to celebrate ten years of Idiom, the album that first captured the chemistry between two of South London's most innovative musical minds. The night revisits Idiom alongside music from across their decade-long partnership, which they describe as deep grooves, heavyweight bass and expansive improvisation.
Their sound sits at the crossroads of London's underground music culture, blending jazz, soul, dubstep, grime and electronic music. Joe Armon-Jones, a founding member of Ezra Collective, is a key figure in the contemporary UK jazz scene as a keyboardist, composer and producer. Maxwell Owen is known for his bass-heavy productions and club-focused approach. Together they've collaborated with artists including Greentea Peng, Nubya Garcia, Oscar Jerome and Moses Boyd, pushing the boundaries between live musicianship and electronic music.
