Eve Appleton Band celebrate their second album The Way Up Sky, live with Dogsbody.
Eve Appleton Band are at Strange Brew on Saturday 17 October, celebrating their second album, The Way Up Sky. They're playing with Dogsbody, so it's a double bill rather than a single act. The night sits in Bristol's post-rock scene — that experimental side of rock that pulls in jazz and electronica, a sound that grew in the nineties and early two-thousands with bands like Mogwai and Tortoise, and one that still has a home here in local acts like Ishmael ensemble.
Strange Brew is a multi-room DIY art space, music venue and late-night bar in the heart of the city, just off Fairfax Street near the Lanes and Rough Trade. It came together after a successful crowdfunder by the promoters behind the club night Dirtytalk, who set out to run a mix of free bar events, art showings, gigs and club nights under a 3am licence. It's a venue that fits the city's alternative and post-rock circuit, alongside rooms like The Fleece, Thekla, The Exchange and The Stag and Hounds, with the ArcTanGent festival as the annual highlight for that scene.
