The Tara Clerkin Trio perform live at Trinity Community Arts, blending trip-hop, avant-pop and indie rock in a night of standing tickets.
Tara Clerkin Trio play Trinity Community Arts on Sunday 25 October, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The trio formed here in Bristol back in 2020, bringing together Tara Clerkin, Sunny Joe Paradisos and Patrick Benjamin. They've spent the years since then building a sound that's hard to pin down to one genre, and this is a local band playing on their home turf.
Their music sits somewhere between live performance, synthesis and meticulous studio construction, and they describe it as blurring the lines between the three. It's a mix of mystery and experimentation, and the influences they draw on run wide: Bristol's trip-hop lineage, avant-pop, modern classical, kraut-folk, audio verité and indie rock. If you've heard them before, you'll recognise that pull in different directions — the electronic side rubbing up against the acoustic, the structured songs meeting the more open, textural moments.
They've been active since that 2020 start, when they released their self-titled debut. Two acclaimed mini-albums followed on World of Echo: In Spring in 2021 and On The Turning Ground in 2023. They're now due to release a full-length LP, Somewhere Good, so this show comes at a time when there's new material on the horizon as well as a few years of records behind them.
