Skye Newman

Skye Newman plays Beacon Hall at the Bristol Beacon on Sunday 1 November, with doors opening at 19:00. She's the main feature of the night, and she'll be joined by special guests. The show is presented by Metropolis Music & SJM Concerts, and it's already sold out.

Newman is a raw and unapologetically authentic new voice from South East London. Her music sits at a cross between rap's narrative edge and the emotional pull of soul, and she's drawn on a wide range of influences to get there — Amy Winehouse and Eminem are two of the names she cites. She's backed by a tight-knit creative circle, and the whole thing is built around storytelling: she takes lived experience and puts it on stage, turning real-life stories into moments of connection with the audience. It's a live show that's as much about the stories as it is about the music.

If you're trying to get a sense of where she comes from, that South East London root is a good place to start. The rap influence shows up in the way she tells a story — direct, detailed, and focused on the narrative — while the soul side brings the melody and the emotion. Those two things together are what she's built her sound around, and they're what she'll be bringing to the stage at the Beacon.

So, the details: Skye Newman at Beacon Hall, Bristol Beacon, Trenchard Street, BS1 5AR, on Sunday 1 November. Doors open at 19:00, and tickets start from £37.45. It's a sold-out show, so if you've already got yours, you're set.
