A family art workshop by Goldfinch Create and Play inspired by natural patterns and textures, suitable for children aged 4 and over.
Goldfinch Create and Play are running a family art workshop called Patterns in Nature at St George's on Friday 30 October, from 10.00am to 11.30am. It's part of their wider Nature Reconnect programme, which brings these family sessions to the venue.
The workshop takes its cue from the patterns, textures and shapes found in the natural world, with a large ammonite-inspired artwork at its centre. The ammonite's distinctive spiral structure serves as the starting point for collage, texture and pattern, and the group also makes mosaic-style feathers. There's a separate toddler area for the smaller ones, with simpler, more tactile activities like circle-pattern stamping, stencils and plasticine exploration with ammonites and shells. Families are encouraged to collect small natural treasures from the St George's grounds to incorporate into their work, so it's as much about looking around the site as it is about what happens at the table.
