Concert by the London-based cumbia band Los Bitchos at The Lantern.
Los Bitchos are playing The Lantern on Thursday 4 February 2027, with Sinkane joining them on the bill. It's a London-based band, and the night is billed as Los Bitchos & Friends, so you'll have more than one act to work through over the evening.
If you're not familiar with them, Los Bitchos play instrumental music shaped by 1970s and 1980s cumbia. It's a sound that pulls from Colombian and Peruvian rhythms, and because there are no vocals, the focus stays on the groove and the arrangements rather than a singer. It's the kind of thing that works as well for dancing as it does for just listening.
One of the things that sets them apart is the line-up: they bring together musicians from several different countries, and that's something they point to as a reason for their sound's unusually wide stylistic reach. It's not just a cumbia record played by a standard band; the different backgrounds in the room feed into how they approach the music, and you can hear that in the way they pull from different traditions.
