Concert by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Joshua Burnside, blending Irish traditional song with electronica and found sounds.
Joshua Burnside plays The Trinity Centre on Friday 7 May, part of the It's Not Going To Be Okay tour. He's a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and producer who works in a particular kind of hybrid: Irish traditional song mixed with electronica, found sounds, world music and unconventional production. It's a sound that sits between folk and something more experimental, and he's touring the new record that carries the same name as the tour.
It's Not Going To Be Okay came out in 2026, following the death of his close friend Dean Jendoubi. It's his second album in two years, coming after 2025's Teeth of Time, which was named one of BBC 6 Music's Albums of the Year and nominated for the NI Music Prize for Best Album and RTĆ Choice Irish Album of the Year. Burnside grew up between Strangford Lough and East Belfast, and his writing tends to circle back to family, trauma, grief and renewal.
