Hayden Thorpe, former frontman of Wild Beasts, performs an intimate solo show revisiting the band's songbook in the Fyfe Hall.
Hayden Thorpe plays the Fyfe Hall at the Trinity Centre on Thursday 11 February 2027. It's a solo show, and the set is built around the songs he wrote as the frontman of Wild Beasts.
If that name doesn't ring a bell, Wild Beasts were an English band that ran from 2002 to 2018. Thorpe co-founded them as a duo with guitarist Ben Little, and they eventually grew into a four-piece that put out five studio albums on Domino Records. They earned a fair bit of critical acclaim over those years, even if the commercial side of things stayed modest. Thorpe was the voice at the front, known for a distinctive falsetto and for the emotionally rich way he sang.
This show is a look back at that songbook. He's stripping each track back to voice and instrument, playing through the catalogue in its most intimate form. The idea is to get to the songwriting at the heart of the band's sound, and the tour marks twenty years since their debut single. It's a chance to hear those songs with a new closeness and clarity, and with Thorpe performing them on his own.
