An alternative comedy night with Harriet Dyer and Emma Hughes testing out new material, with headliner Rob Copland.
Flight Of Fancy is back at The Gaffe Comedy Club on Wednesday 11 November, the alternative comedy night run by Harriet Dyer and Emma Hughes. The two of them are the ones behind the whole thing, and they describe the night as a place where they gather some of their favourite weirdos to test out new tomfoolery. That's the core of it: it's a night for new material, so you're seeing bits of act as they're being worked on rather than a polished, road-tested show.
There are two names you'll recognise from the bill. Harriet Dyer is a Live at The Apollo stand-up and a regular on Cats Does Countdown, so she's the one with the most national profile. Emma Hughes was a 2025 Bristol Comedy Competition finalist and is regarded as a rising star of the South West scene, so she's the local one on the rise. They're the ones running the night, and they'll both be on the line-up.
They're bringing in Rob Copland to headline, so he'll be the main act of the evening. The rest of the bill is made up of the 'favourite weirdos' they bring together for each night, which is where the 'alternative' part of the description comes in — it's less about the standard stand-up format and more about the kind of thing that works in a room like The Gaffe.

It's a Tuesday night in October, so if you're looking for something to do mid-week in Bristol, this is one of the options. The Gaffe is the venue, and the night is run by Dyer and Hughes themselves. If you've followed either of them before, it's a chance to see what they're working on right now.
