A fresh retelling of Bram Stoker's Dracula by Shipwrecks and Dreams Productions at The Mount Without.
Shipwrecks and Dreams are bringing Dracula to The Mount Without on Wednesday 14 October, with a second performance on Thursday 15 October. It's a fresh retelling of Bram Stoker's novel, the one that gave the world its most famous vampire, and they're taking it to the stage in Bristol.
If you've read the book, you know the ground it covers: the journey from Transylvania to England, the slow creep of the Count into Jonathan Harker's world, and the group of friends who eventually band together to stop him. Shipwrecks and Dreams are working from that source, so it's the story you'll recognise, but told through their own lens rather than a beat-for-beat reproduction of the old adaptations. It's a new take on a story that's been done a thousand times, and that's exactly why it's worth seeingโhow they choose to frame it is the whole point.
The production is put on by Shipwrecks and Dreams, a Bristol-based company, and it runs across two nights at The Mount Without. If you're deciding between the two, the first is on Wednesday 14 October and the second on Thursday 15 October, so you've got a choice of mid-week slots. It's a short run, just those two dates, so it's a one-off rather than something that'll be hanging around for weeks.

Between the two dates, you can catch it on either Wednesday or Thursday, and since it's a fresh retelling of Dracula, it's a good one to go to even if you've seen the story a dozen times before. The Mount Without is the venue, and the run is 14-15 October.
