Canadian alternative rock band Crash Test Dummies perform live at the Trinity Centre in Bristol.
Crash Test Dummies play Trinity Centre on Thursday 15 October, their first Bristol date in years. They're a Canadian alternative rock band, one of the most recognisable voices in their country's music history, and this is a full-band show rather than a solo turn.
They formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, back in 1989. Their debut album, The Ghosts that Haunt Me, came out on 5 April 1991, driven by the single 'Superman's Song', which won that year's Juno Award for Group of the Year. The follow-up, God Shuffled His Feet (1993), was their biggest success: the international pop hit 'Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm' — later parodied by 'Weird Al' Yankovic — and the title track 'Afternoons and Coffeespoons' were both major Canadian chart hits, and the album sold nearly six million copies in America and close to ten million worldwide. Over the years they've picked up three Grammy nominations and a Juno Award.
Frontman Brad Roberts has been the band's only constant member, and he's since released a solo live album under the name Crash Test Dude, but this is the full group back on stage. The set will draw from that early catalogue, so you'll hear the songs that made them a household name across North America and beyond.
