Stand-up comedy show A Bit Scared by Blake Pavey at The Gaffe Comedy Club, exploring personal fears and experiences.
Blake Pavey brings his show A Bit Scared to The Gaffe Comedy Club this Tuesday 13 October. It's a stand-up set that takes a pretty heavy starting point and turns it into something you can actually laugh at, and it's one of the more personal nights on the city's comedy calendar this week.
The premise comes from a bit of a twist: Pavey found out his terminal illness isn't all that terminal anymore, which left him with a lot more time on his hands than he'd expected. That's where the title comes in — with the immediate clock stopped, he's spent that extra time thinking about everything else he's scared of. It's a show built on that shift from one big fear to a whole list of smaller ones, and it's earned four stars from The Age.
As for the venue, The Gaffe Comedy Club sits on the edge of Broadmead and Bristol Old City, and it bills itself as the city's newest dedicated comedy club. It's got stand-up almost every night of the week, running from up-and-coming underground acts to touring headliners on late-night weekend slots. It's one of the new additions to Bristol's stand-up scene, alongside the likes of The Hen and Chicken, The Tobacco Factory, and The Lantern at Colston Hall.
